Dr. James Danahey is a general surgery resident at the University of Colorado who is interested in a career in vascular surgery. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Colorado with majors in Biochemistry and Classical Studies. He subsequently earned his medical degree from the Frank H. Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University, where he graduated with a Letter of Distinction in High Value Care. While there, he completed a post-graduate research fellowship at Yale University where he focused on developing novel approaches for vascular malformation management using high-intensity focused ultrasound.
He is excited to join the COIN team as a Health Systems Research Fellow. His work will primarily focus on sub-topics within vascular surgery, including optimizing pre-operative risk assessment and management of peripheral artery disease.
Research Interests
- Using machine learning algorithms to enhance pre-operative risk assessment
- Integrating CTA with three-dimensional reconstruction into the pre-operative evaluation of carotid stenosis
- Exploring how patient frailty is related to surgical decision making
