Contact: Allison.Lange@va.gov
Location: Denver

My career goal is to be an independent clinician scientist who tests interventions to improve quality of life for veterans with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cognitive dysfunction (mild cognitive impairment and dementia) and help veterans age at home. I am uniquely positioned to study this topic because I am clinically trained in Internal Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and Pulmonary and Critical Care. I am applying for a VA Career Development Award-2 (CDA-2) award. I have a track record of obtaining and completing local grants, including experience in survey analysis and qualitative research. I require additional training in geriatric caregiving research, intervention adaptation and design, mixed methods, and clinical trials.

Research interests

  • Quality of life improvement for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
  • Serious illness communication with patients with lung disease
  • How to extend the reach of palliative care for patients with chronic lung disease
