Dr. Melillo is a Nurse Researcher at the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System in Denver, CO, and Director of the Nursing Innovations Center for Evaluation. She earned her BSN from Indiana University, her MPH from the University of South Florida and her PhD in Nursing from the Uniformed Services University.
She has worked within the VA system for over 20 years, bringing her passion for nursing from the clinical units to research studies. Her work is dedicated to advancing access to quality and timely care for Veterans through nursing education, research, quality improvement, and innovative care delivery models. Her scholarly contributions to the field of Veteran studies include peer-reviewed publications, presentations, toolkits and playbooks, and educational videos designed for both patients and providers. She is committed to generating actionable knowledge that enhances healthcare delivery and outcomes for Veterans.
Dr. Melillo is an active member of the American Evaluation Association and Journal of Veteran Studies editorial board and co-chair of the Military and Veterans Networking Group Community Reintegration task force for the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, bringing a passion for lifelong learning to her daily work.
