I am a physical therapist currently completing an Advanced Research Fellowship with the Denver-Seattle VA Center of Innovation (COIN). My research experience includes intervention development and evaluation using stakeholder engagement and mixed methods research approaches. Specifically, I assisted with the development of a MultiComponent TeleRehabilitation (MCTR) program, and we are currently evaluating the effectiveness of this program to improve physical function and daily physical activity for older Veterans with medical complexity. The MCTR program includes 4 components: 1) high-intensity rehabilitation interventions, 2) coaching to support behavior change, 3) social support, and 4) adjunctive technologies. The adjunctive technologies serve two purposes—increasing access by reducing geographic and travel barriers and enabling behavior change. My future research will focus on adapting this multicomponent program to address the needs of Veterans suffering from chronic musculoskeletal pain.
