- Dr. Caplan engages in clinically-oriented epidemiologic and health service research within the field of pharmacoepidemiology and auto-immunity/rheumatology. Areas of interest include spondyloarthritis, retrospective analysis of databases, as well as construction and maintenance of patient registries.
I have chosen to pursue research in spondyloarthritis because this population is scientifically fascinating, understudied, and faces clinically important health challenges. I find the veterans to be extremely generous with their time and motivated to solve questions related to their health, and that is extremely rewarding.
I hope that we are able to bring meaningful change to individuals with spondyloarthritis, with more certain diagnoses made earlier in patient’s disease course.
