Lucas Donovan, MD MS is the Co-Associate Director of the COIN. Dr. Donovan's work focuses on improving patients’ access to care in ways that maximize quality, efficiency, and patient experience. To accomplish these goals, he conducts research that adapts, tests, and implements care pathways that improve the population reach of effective interventions. His research has been supported by independent research awards (R01 equivalents) from Patient Centered Outcomes Research Initiative and VA Health Services Research and Development. In addition, he serves as Director of the Denver-Seattle VA Collaborative Evaluation (VACE) Center, where he direct rigorous multi-center and mixed methods program evaluations for National VA operational partners including the Office of Connected Care, Office of Rural Health, and Office of Integrated Veterans Care. These evaluations quickly translate rigorous science into action for the health system around access to care. He has a rich background of scholarly work with over 80 publications, most of which concern how to optimize delivery of care for complex medical conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and sleep disorders like obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia.
