Veteran Engagement Group

Veteran Engagement Group

Jump to: Seattle Group  |  Denver Group

The Veteran Engagement Group for Research is a Veteran-based group that provides feedback on VA research. Veteran feedback is essential to shaping and informing VA research.

Community involvement in research falls along a spectrum with traditional research, where community members contribute as research participants, to community-based participatory research, where community members are part of the research team. Community engagement groups, like our Veteran Engagement Group (VEG), fall somewhere in-between these two. Members are not participants in any of the studies presented to them and they are not on the research team.

They are advising the research team based on their experiences both as Veterans and as persons who receive care.

The Veteran Engagement Group provides consultation to principal investigators on aspects of their research studies.

Growing Rural Outreach through Veteran Engagement (GROVE) Center

The Denver COIN also houses the leadership for the Growing Rural Outreach through Veteran Engagement (GROVE) Center, the only centralized resource center for Veteran Engagement focused on VA research. You can find out more information on GROVE and find partners in Veteran Engagement.

“Participation in this group has taught me more about the VA Healthcare system and the research that goes into that care, than what I learned in years of being a VA patient.” Current Veteran Engagement Group Member
