Data Analytics Core

Data Analytics Core

Research Core | Data Analytics Core | Qualitative Core | VA Collaborative Evaluation Center (VACE)

The Data Analytics Core comprises a diverse and skilled team of six doctoral-level and 26 master-level data scientists, quantitative analysts, and statistical methodologists. In FY24, this core will support more than 65 concurrent projects that span all aspects of the COIN’s research portfolio. Members of the Data Analytics Core work collaboratively across Denver and Seattle to share knowledge, resources, and best practices for planning, executing, and disseminating mixed-method and quantitative analyses. Through group training, collaborative project teams, weekly Data Analytics Core meetings, and organized online resources, senior staff actively mentor junior colleagues to enhance COIN’s quantitative capabilities and evolving knowledge/skill portfolio growth and sustainability.

The Data Analytics Core Directors are integrated into the Research Review Committee process to provide critical insight into the statistical approach/feasibility, VA data availability, and data analytic staffing needs of all new research and operations proposals. The Data Analytics Core Directors work together to ensure that:

  1. Analytic staff are available and appropriately matched to meet evolving project needs.
  2. Analytic staff receive ongoing training to further their growth and career development.
  3. Recruitment, screening, and hiring of new analytic staff to meet the COIN’s forecasted demand.
  4. The Data Analytics Core contributes to the COIN’s overall impact, strategic vision, and future direction by cultivating modern, cutting-edge approaches and capabilities to remain state-of-the-art and relevant in a quickly evolving data landscape.
